Murder Of The Kitchen Maid
Saltram House is a magnificant Georgian Manor that
started out as a Tudor style house. Parts of the Tudor
house were incorporated in the rebuild of this amazing
home. The home sits on 500 acres of well maintained
parkland.
This was the locaton chosen to be Norland
Park in the movie Sense and Sensability starring Kate
Winslet and Hugh Grant
The interior of Saltram House is nothing
less than spectacular with ornate plasterwork and hand
painted Chinese wallpaper.
The most exciting thing Saltram House
has to offer of course are several ghosts and if you
are lucky enough you may catch a gimpse of them. One
of the ghosts is said to be kitchen maid that was murdered
in the house and has stayed around. It is not known
who she is or who murdered her, they are secrets that
are kept within the walls of Saltman forever. She can
be seen as a hooded figure in a dark cloak that will
glide across the corridor and disappear into the dining
room wall, never appearing on the other side.
Another ghost said to haunt Saltram
House is a smail child who is apt to appear in your
room at the foot of your bed and watch you sleep. If
you awake, she will look at you for several moments
and then glide towards the wall and disappear into
it.
