Owner or Housekeeper
Flitwick Manor belonged to John Thomas Brooks who
moved in following his marriage to Mary in 1816.
It then passed through the generations until 1934
when the family died out.
One of the ghosts that appears is that
of a female who wonders through the hotel. Some people
suggest it may be Mary Brooks who never left because
her beloved daughter Mary Ann died of what is believed
to be abdominal cancer.
Some people believe the ghost is probably
that of a servant or housekeeper because the ghostly
appearances did not begin until workers found a hidden
attic room that no one knew about. Regardless of who
she is, you can often find her in the bedrooms sitting
at the foot of your bed, or gazing out the window. You
can also hear her footsteps and she likes to play with
the lights.
