A Multitude of Ghosts
This house is everything I look for in a haunted
house. It is a mid 17th century house and has a
glorious example of a medival barn on site.
It is said many ghots haunt both the hall and its
grounds. One of the former owners, was thrown
by her horse into the pond where shd drowned and
now haunts the manor as the "white lady". Another
ghost the "grey lady" starved to death in the manor
when her husband found her in bed with her lover.
He locked her up in one of the rooms and just let
her starve to death as punishment. Her lover was
bricked up alive by the husband and he shows up
occasionally in front of the wall he was bricked
up in as just a floating head.
In 1790 a Scottsman was caught in a blizzard and
saught shelter at the manor. The steward who was
settling the man in discovered that he was carrying
a very large amount of cash so he went to his master
and told him about the money. At that point the
stewart and master decided that since no one knew
where the Scottsman was, they would kill him and
steal his money.
The crime however was discovered by authorities
and the stewart was convicted of murder and hanged,
while the master was found not guilty. The Scottsman,
apparently upset that the master of the house was
not punished for the murder remains at the home
and you can see him near the window on the front
porch.
Visit the home on New Years Eve and you are sure
to see a baby cradle being rocked by an unseen
ghost who hearlds in the New Year by rocking the
cradle back and forth.
