Lusty In Death
This lovely home in remarkable condition was built
between 1607 and 1612 for Sir Adam Newton. Sir
Adam Newton had a grand home and a fortune to pass
along to his heir. The only problem was he did
not have one. When his wife died, he ws in his
80's and still wanting an heir, he married a girl
that was only 17 years old. He died a short two
months later, and his new wife had not conceived
so an heir was never born.
It seems the fiesty old guy has not given
up on the idea of an heir, and he is on a constant search
for ladies that tickle his fancy. Ladies staying overnight
at the mansion will often hear their door handles turning,
a reminder that old Sir Adam Newton is interested in
a little bit of playtime. He has even been known to pinch
a few ladies backsides.
During restoration work the mummified
body of an infant was found in a fireplace which could
explain a second ghost that appears at Charlton House.
It is said a servant girl walks around with a dead baby
in her arms. No one knows who she is, or the circumstances
surrounding the babies death.
