Dreams Lost
This home was actually built on the ruins of a
former Tudor Manor. It has 52 rooms (one for each
week of the year) and 365 windows (one for each
day of the year). Shortly after being built, the
mistress of the home,, Sady Seymour, ran off and
the disgrace ruined Sir Richard Worsley. In 1805
after his death the house passed on to several
owners and was used for various purposes over the
years from housing troups in both World Wars, to
a hotel and school.
At this time, all that basically remains
is the shell of the home and has not been restored. You
can hear a baby cry at this sad home and people have
often thought a real baby was somewhere near.
The most obvious ghost though is of an
insane monk, although why he haunts the home and when
he lived there still remains a mystery.
